The opening residential kicked off at the Waurn Ponds Estate where the serene setting initially made us feel as if we were on retreat…and then the fun started! We quickly found through introductions the diversity of people and vocations inspiring, and that we were in a room full of like-minded people who were all here for a shared purpose.

There was a real 'buzz' about the group - excitement, nervousness, generosity, eagerness and acceptance. This was highlighted by a motivating and honest discussion of leadership qualities delivered by Keith Fagg.

Throughout the two days, we were challenged by Paige Williams (PosPro), Damian O'Malley (OMC Group) and Jason Clarke (Minds at Work) - each and every speaker had a unique message to offer. Lisa Harrup & Will McIntosh (2016 LfG Ambassadors) shared their wisdom from their recent program experience and validated our anticipation, fears, energy and excitement in a matter of minutes by relaying key learnings.

The two all-consuming days were a terrific start to our LfG journey. Overwhelmingly, the sentiment at Friday evening's welcome event, with additional attendance from CfG Board, S&PC & LSC members, plus employer representatives & invited guests, was a mix of excitement, inspiration, sheer exhaustion (!) and a sense of wonder at where (and what) we will be in two years!
