We continued our leadership journey by listening to passionate leaders on strength-based leadership.

Beth Davis, with over 10 years of experience in Sports and Entertainment field, and Lucy O'Reilly, with a variety of roles in various leadership positions, facilitated a very constructive panel discussion. They explored leadership in depth and shared their professional history - including how Committee for Geelong'sActivateLeadership Program helped them get to where they are today.

Then, Paige Williams from PosPro, a keynote speaker with extensive senior management experience and passion about creating positive organisational cultures explained how to live an authentic life by knowing, focusing and being clear on your own strengths. She delivered a very effective and engaging presentation on strength-based leadership.

Later, Phil Clohesy, General Manager of the Royal Geelong Yacht Club, presented on his leadership journey from a young age. He talked about the pursuit of his passions, the importance of continuous learning and shared his overall leadership style. He also shared his pearls of wisdom and explained various different leadership styles.

In the end, the three key takeaways for the group were to:

  1. Look at positives.
  2. Continuously learn through formal and informal methods and
  3. The importance of stepping back and looking at the dance floor from the balcony.
