Activate #2 - Week 4

I've been super busy this week, at work and at home, and wasn't
prepared for Thursday to pop up so quickly! It was an unseasonably
warm day and windy, too. My mind was elsewhere when I arrived at
the Victorian Regional Channel Authority, it was on deadlines
looming, emails needing to be sent and the worry of washing on the
line with the threat of an impending downpour. If given the option,
I would have given Activate a miss and tried to get on top of my
long 'to do' list. But I parked the car, answered the phone,
tackled the parking meter (thanks Fleur!) and made my way up to the

Pauline Braniff was insightful with her Communicating for
Success talk. Her experience and communication tips were valuable
and the enthusiastic discussion throughout her presentation proved
how enthralled we were.
Damien O'Malley continued his workshop from Day One and as we'd
had time to consider our DiSC profile in the meantime, it was good
to revisit the methodology again. I particularly enjoyed the task
of reflecting on a situation from the point of view of different
We rounded out the day with the Marshmallow Challenge. It was a
fun and challenging exercise and I loved hearing the observers'
insight on how the different teams had worked.
Each week I am gaining clearer insight and greater confidence in
my leadership journey. I appreciate the opportunity to pause each
week and take the time to concentrate on my personal development.
We're already half way through and I look forward to seeing what
the next four weeks bring.
